The City of Doncaster and Yorkshire Water have proposed a plan to introduce sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) to temporarily store rainwater and release it at a controlled rate. The proposed basins will be constructed in Scawthorpe, which are expected to be dry most of the year but will be planted with appropriate species that can handle occasional flooding. The proposal is also being considered for implementation at another location in Doncaster.
