The joint U.S.-Israel operation in Iran, Operation Epic Fury, codenamed Epic Fury and Operation Roaring Lion, began on Feb. 28 and has resulted in a series of coordinated strikes against key military facilities and members of Iranian leadership within 24 hours. The author suggests that AI has been used to integrate intelligence via satellites, drones, radar, and signals data, enabling simultaneous operations across multiple domains and enabling rapid decision-making beyond human deliberation. This has also enabled rapid strike volume, lower risks for friendly military personnel, and reduced costs of strikes. The article also highlights the potential for ethical concerns about the future of warfare and the potential erosion of restraint in lethal operations. The authors suggest that while AI systems enhance tactical advantages and potentially enhance tactical advantage, they also add the risk of faster escalation than the faster than the quicker than the earlier, potentially add to the risk or risk of bombing. The current operation may be the first instance of all three elements being used concurrently. The Authors also note that prominent AI companies are closely involved in the kill chain, while others have been involved in conflicts with the military and the Pentagon.
