A Pearl police car was hit by an intoxicated driver during a traffic stop on Interstate 20 westbound near the U.S. Highway 49 exit on April 3, 2026. The incident occurred while a second officer was parked in a marked patrol vehicle. The black Ford F-150 was driven by James Franklin Johnson, Jr., who was arrested for driving under the influence. The officer involved in the collision was not injured.
