Daniel Turcios Torres, a 46-year-old man from New Bedford, has been sentenced to up to 45 years in state prison for raping a young relative hundreds of times. The victim, who was 17 at the time, reported the assaults to New Bedford police in July 2024. Turceos Torres was charged with multiple counts of rape, aggravated by age, rape of a child by force, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and witness intimidation. If she refused the attacks, he allegedly would restrict her or physically punish her. The girl's testimony was praised for her courage and determination to move forward with life.
