California Gov. Gavin Newsom has called Tesla CEO Elon Musk "one of the great disappointments" of this era, accusing him of surrendering the electric vehicle market to China, which already holds 70% of the global EV market. Newsom, currently on a book tour as he prepares to run for president, argued that Musk, who pioneered America's EV industry, is now accelerating this trend by shifting Tesla towards robotics. He also mentioned that Musk still benefits from California's R&D tax credits even while aligning with the Trump administration, which is hostile to renewable energy.
