Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania have found a surprising link between voting and longevity. They compared the long-term health of older adults who voted in the 2008 presidential election to those who did not. The study also found that voting was 45% less likely to die within five years after the 2008 election, 37% lesslikely to die 10 years after that, and 29% more likely to live 15 years later. The researchers also found voting in the 2004 and 2012 presidential elections had an equally lower risk of dying over the 15-year period. These findings may explain why people who vote tend to have better health outcomes than those who do not.
