On April 11, the Stamford Fire Department was called to the scene of two kayakers in distress. The kayakers were approximately 1,000 feet from shore when one of the kayaks overturned due to wind gusts and choppy waters. The city's 911 Center launched a drone to locate the kayakers and were able to rescue them. The pair were transported to shore and assessed for hypothermia and sent to Stamford Hospital.
