A Grand Slam baseball tournament in Mississippi turned violent after it ended, with a deputy for the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Office and an umpire, Jeff Akins, both arrested following a brawl. The altercation began when Akins pushed Lieutenant Darrell Holley, the coach for Starkville's 14U sports performance center select team, and Holley's son, who is a player for the team, punched Akins in the back of the head twice before Akins turned to face Holley. Both Akins and Holleys were charged with a misdemeanor charge for fighting not in self defense and are banned from future Grand Slam tournaments. An investigation is ongoing.
