State health officials have closed oyster leases in Barataria Bay after an oil spill from a terminal 18 miles offshore reached the Louisiana coast. The closure is a precautionary measure after oil sheen was spotted in the waters of an oyster leasing area in Jefferson and Plaquemines parishes. This follows a similar incident last week when the Coast Guard closed parts of Terrebonne Bay and Lake Pelto near the same area due to the same incident.
