However, handling real eggs requires caution and adherence to food safety precautions. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling them and use food-safe dye if you plan to eat them. For Easter egg hunts, consider hollowing, hard-boiling, or using raw eggs. Food Safety and Inspection Service of the United States (FSIS) has advised against eating any eggs decorated with non-edible substances, which can be unsafe to eat even if these substances are only on the shell. If in doubt, make two sets of eggs for decoration and hiding, and another for eating.
