US, Australia, Philippines hold second joint drills in South China Sea this year

The US, Australia, and the Philippines have conducted their second joint maritime exercises in the South China Sea, amid tensions with China. The four-day drills brought together warships, fighter jets, and surveillance aircraft to strengthen maritime defence capabilities. The Philippines deployed its FA‑50 fighter jets and Australia contributed P‑8A Poseidon aircraft. The drills came ahead of the opening of the annual large-scale war games between Manila and Washington.
