15-year-old dead, 2 injured, in gang-related shooting at popular Long Island park

A 15-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured during a gang-related shooting at a Long Island park. The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. and took place near Hempstead Turnpike and Merrick Avenue. An invitation for a barbecue was sent out to purported gang members and an argument broke out at the event. Two people were taken into custody and are currently in stable condition.
