My daughter, "Patti," a 43-year-old mom of two from different fathers, is constantly in financial difficulties and relies heavily on family members for financial assistance. She has a history of frivolous spending, including lavish parties, hairdos, clothes, and plastic surgeries, and filed for bankruptcy 20 years ago after amassing large credit card debt. Her live-in boyfriend, who earns a good living but provides no financial assistance, is no assistance beyond that. Patti has rejected my offers to review her finances as a pre-financial assistance and has refused to attend free financial counseling.
