The San Diego Anti-Hate Coalition has reported a significant increase in hate crimes since the aftermath of a mass shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Over a two-month period, the city saw the largest increase in such crimes documented by the City Attorney's office since 2022, according to Daniel Korchnoy, chief of special investigations with the San Diego City Attorney’s office. The hate-crime targets range from Muslims to members of the LGBTQ community. The coalition, which includes representatives from non-governmental organizations, community groups, and law enforcement agencies, spoke about the continuing impact of the mosque shooting. So far, the DA's office has filed four hate crime cases, one gender-based, one religion-based and two regarding race or ethnicity.
