A New York man, Zach Calleri, an employee with the Village of East Aurora Department of Public Works, saved the driver from a flooded car by wading into the rising floodwater. The incident occurred during a rainy night in East Aurora, New York, when the driver mistakenly drove into a flooded viaduct and the water levels inside the viadeway rose to waist-deep within minutes. Calleri credited his quick action to instinct and a deep sense of community. This incident has been highlighted as a reminder that when emergency crews block a road during a flood, trust them.
