Former South Carolina Republican lawmaker Mark Sanford has filed for Congress in South Carolina's 1st District, following allegations of an affair with journalist Olivia Nuzzi. The allegations were made by Nizzi's ex-fiancé, who claimed Sanford had an affair. Sanford, who served in Congress from 1995 to 2001 and again from 2013 to 2019, is running in the district being vacated by Rep. Nancy Mace. His campaign focuses on addressing the nation's debt and addressing the issue of inflation and interest rates, the value of the dollar, and the ability to afford building and sustaining our lives. Sanford will enter the GOP primary race with a $1.3 million war chest from previous political campaigns.
