The application window for the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program is closing on March 31, with over 257,000 students statewide and Houston-area families leading the way. The TEFA program aims to give parents more flexibility in their child's education. So far, over 80,000 applicants have applied, with high participation from Dallas ISD, Northside ISD (6,539), Plano ISD and Austin ISD. After the application window closes, families will be sorted into four priority tiers, with Tier 1 being chosen for families with a child with a disability and household income below 500% of the federal poverty level. The final school selection deadline is July 15.
