The Japanese government has been monitoring the situation in the Middle East following the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, where approximately two hundred Japanese nationals were at risk. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi pledged to take all possible measures to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals in Iran and neighboring countries. Approximately 200 Japanese nationals are currently in Iran. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning to Japanese nationals to consider evacuation while commercial flights were still operating. The Japanese government established an “Information Liaison Office” concerning the situation, collecting information from relevant ministries and agencies. The government also established an emergency response headquarters headed by Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu and is preparing to guarantee Japanese nationals' safety and assist them in leaving the country through diplomatic missions overseas.
