Nolan McLean, the best pitcher in the baseball, struggled in a 4-3, 10-inning loss to the Pirates on Sunday. Despite a poor start, McLean was able to control his pitch and managed to control the game. He then regained his form, throwing seven of eight balls to begin the game and walking the first two batters he faced. McLean continued to look promising in the game, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks and striking out eight in five innings. Brett Baty became the third Mets infielder to start a game at a position he had never played in the major leagues. The team hopes to continue this trend, with the hope that Baty will be able to perform well in utility.
