The Chicago Blackhawks have made several notable moves during the NHL trade deadline week, including trading forward Jason Dickinson to the Oilers for a 2027 first-round pick, Colton Dach, and overpaid forward Andrew Mangiapane. Despite these concessions, the Hawks also retained 50% of Dickinson’s $4.25 million salary-cap hit. The deal was part of a larger effort by former Hawks teammate Connor Murphy, who was traded to Edmonton. The Hawks also received a 2028 second-round draft for Murphy. The first-rounder pick acquired by the Hawks has top-12 protection, meaning it could slide to 2028 if the Oilers miss the playoffs in 2027.
