UPFRONT: New film tax credits
Published on March 15, 2026.
The Wisconsin Governor, Tony Evers, has announced the launch of a new film office and $5 million per year in film tax credits to produce movies and TV shows in Wisconsin. The initiative was part of the most recent state budget and has been met with strong interest from potential blockbusters being filmed in Wisconsin, or smaller TV and film production. The tourism secretary, Anne Sayers, says the initial goal is to build this economy both in-state productions and out of state. The program aims to keep filmmakers in state and attract out-of-state filmmakers in a competitive way. Sayers also aims to spread out the economic benefits outside of just Milwaukee or Madison to create a statewide play for income going into hotels and restaurants, catering services around the state.
