The worst season in Tennessee's women's basketball history ended with a disappointing 76-71 loss to No. 7 NC State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, marking the team's eighth consecutive loss. Coach Kim Caldwell, who had previously led Division II Glenville State to a 2022 national championship, accepted responsibility for the team’s poor performance. She blamed her performance on a lack of clear leadership and inability to recruit and motivate players. The team's most recent victory came on Feb. 12.
