Israel targets Tehran as Trump delays strikes on Iran power plants

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has warned that Israeli military attacks against Iran will escalate and expand, following President Trump's extension of a pause on U.S. strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure. This comes as global markets continue to struggle due to the partial blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused energy prices to rise. The Israel Defense Forces has also targeted Iran's primary facility for missile and sea mine production in Yazd, Iran. Despite this, senior Iranian officials have denied involvement in negotiations with the Trump administration and suggested that the president "backed down" partly due to market pressure. The Pentagon has also increased its military presence in the region amid concerns about the possibility of American troops on ground.
