Psychiatrist Reveals the Sign of ADHD Often Overlooked in Women

Dr. Sasha Hamdani, a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in ADHD, has revealed that many women often miss or receive a diagnosis due to their undiagnosed diagnosis. This is due to a significant gender gap and a tendency for girls to be less likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than boys. Despite this, the number of women diagnosed has nearly doubled in recent years. Emotional dysregulation is a core symptom of ADHD, particularly in adult women, and can be exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle and perimenopause. Despite these issues, Hamdoni acknowledges that ADHD can be managed and symptoms may become less severe so they no longer meet diagnostic criteria.
