Sublime Systems, a Somerville-based cement manufacturing startup, has laid off two-thirds of its workforce due to the loss of an $87 million federal grant from the Department of Energy. The company, which is headquartered at the Somernova Innovation Campus, plans to use the funds for construction of an additional manufacturing facility in the Central Massachusetts city of Holyoke, which was expected to cost $150 million. The decision to abandon the project was criticized by Senator Ed Markey as part of a campaign against President Donald Trump's anti-manufacturing efforts.
