President Donald Trump has signed an executive order targeting government contracts and subcontracts with companies participating in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) hiring initiatives. The order requires that all contractors and subcontractors not engage in racially discriminatory activities to maintain their contracts with the federal government. If found to have not complied, their contracts can be suspended, canceled or terminated fully or partly and they may be ineligible for additional government contracts. The White House has also announced an investigation into alleged "race-based" mortgage loans.
