Crews begin making repairs at home of viral 92-year-old woman who couldn’t afford to retire; fundraiser gathers $120K in support

Muriel Connick, a 92-year-old woman who couldn't afford to retire, was found working at a Burlington store in Pompano Beach due to financial issues. A viral GoFundMe campaign was started by April Steele, who found Connick working at the store and felt compelled to help her out. The campaign raised thousands of dollars for Connick and led to a total of $120K in donations. Several neighbors and strangers are now working to renovate Connick's home for much-needed repairs. Connick retired a couple of weeks ago and can now officially say she's officially retired.
