John Cornyn has warned that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's "vanity project" in the Senate Republican primary could doom Republicans in the midterms and potentially lead to a third impeachment of President Trump. Speaking to supporters outside San Antonio, Cornyn accused Paxton of pursuing a "vanity project" that would allow Democrats to reclaim a statewide office in Congress for the first time since 1994. He urged the GOP to avoid complacency and warned against underestimating Democrats. Paxton is currently leading Cornyn by 40% to 36.3%, with Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas), who entered the race in September, in distant third place at 15.5%. It is unclear whether there will be a runoff race.
