‘They are going to be rejected again’: NASA chief faces grilling over Trump’s proposed budget cuts

Congressmen from both parties are opposing the White House's proposed budget cuts for 2027, which would reduce NASA's budget by nearly a quarter. The opposition came during a hearing led by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman. Republican Rep. Brian Babin of Texas expressed confidence that the proposal would not support what President Trump has directed the agency to accomplish. Democrats on the House Science committee alleged that NASA leadership moved forward with parts of Trump's proposed 2026 budget cuts despite federal lawmakers rejecting the plan in their annual appropriations bill. The alleged actions reportedly affected at least three NASA science and research programs last year. Isaacman did not directly respond to these claims, but insisted that NASA would always follow the law.
