Gubernatorial candidate and former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa visited affected areas in the Tijuana River sewage crisis on Thursday, alongside San Diego County Supervisor Paloma Aguirre to discuss environmental concerns. All candidates expressed support for declaring a statewide emergency, including Villaraegosa. He accused leaders of failing to address the issue, blaming the federal government, Mexico, and the state of California for not addressing it. If elected, he plans to sit down with leaders from both Mexican and American governments to discuss how to address pollution conditions.
