Police in Pine Bluff have released the results of an internal investigation into a November 21 officer-involved shooting that left 23-year-old man, Jeremy Lawrence, dead. The shooting involved three officers from three different departments. The officers were responding to reports of gunfire when a car carrying three people sped through the area and failed to stop it. Initially, police reported Lawrence had fired his weapon while fleeing, but a criminal investigation by the Arkansas State Police later determined that he did not fire the gun. Despite this, investigators found that the officers were still justified in using deadly force due to the perceived threat they believed Lawrence posed. The other officers involved in the shooting remain employed by the Pine Bluffed Police Department.
