Hungary's opposition party, Tisza, is projected to win parliamentary elections in a landslide victory, ousting the Fidesz party of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has led the country for 16 years. Early results showed opposition leader Peter Magyar's party winning 52.49% of the vote, while Orban's Fidedz party taking 38.83%. Orban admitted defeat and congratulated the winner on X. The results have been met with praise from Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Jonas Garre Stoere, and President Gitanas Nauseda.
