The Humane Society of Dickson County (HSDC) and several other animal rescue groups in Charlotte, Tennessee, have rescued over 100 cats, including 62 kittens under five weeks old, found living in unsafe living conditions on a property. The Humane Society for Dickson City (HSD) and other groups rescued 70 of the cats, while Animal Control, Last Chance Pet Rescue, and Saving Kittens Sanctuary have also rescued 70. The animals were found in squalid conditions, with nearly all of them suffering from severe respiratory infections and exhausted mama cats trying to nurse dozens of babies. The animal rescue organization recalled encountering "tiny, fragile lives" upon discovering the kittens. The HSDC is seeking donations to support the high volume of cats coming into the facility.
