Freeport installs new EV chargers, boosting tourism

The city of Freeport has installed eight electric vehicle chargers in downtown Chicago, with a $320,000 2025 EV Charger Grant through the Illinois EPA's Climate and Equitable Jobs Act and $520,000 from ComEd for interconnect installations. The new Level 3 chargers will be visible on maps, potentially attracting tourists and travelers to the area.
