Mikaela Hoover, the voice of Tony Tony Chopper in One Piece season 2, has stated that she didn't watch the anime before she began filming the show. Instead, she chose to create a unique interpretation of the character and assured that creator Eiichiro Oda would approve of her performance. Despite not having seen the anime, Hoover felt deeply connected to the character.
