Meteorite hunters are often dispatched to search for meteorites in the area around Sharon Center, Ohio, following a potentially explosive asteroid over the Cleveland area. Professional hunters descended on the area, using radar data and wind speed to predict where the space rocks may have fallen. Mike Hankey, operations manager for the American Meteor Society, arrived from Baltimore from Baltimore and was among the professional hunters involved in the search. While many of these meteorites have been found so far have been tiny, Hankey believes larger fragments will likely be found closer to Rittman, Ohio. The most recent find was made by Roberto Vargas of Connecticut, who retrieved a meteorite no larger than a fingernail from the Earth's atmosphere. The search for these tiny rocks is tedious and time-consuming, requiring patience and tenacity.
