The Tennessee Senate has passed a bill that requires doctors to report on transgender-related healthcare, which has been met with opposition from activists who claim it would effectively "dox' non-cisgender people. The bill, which was passed 24 to 7 after amendments were made to address some privacy issues. Critics argue that the bill unfairly singles out non-Cisgender patients, while many cisgender patients also receive some of the same healthcare treatments. Sponsors Sen. Brent Taylor (R-Memphis) and Rep. Jeremy Faison say the bill aims to provide public transparency about the number of trans patients who choose to detransition and address unfair “one-way transitioning” and ensure patients can receive care if they choose to.
