Iconic Dudley’s Bakery Gets a Fresh (French) Future

Dudley's Bakery, a beloved San Diego eatery that has been in business for over 60 years, is set to undergo a significant transformation under new owners Michel Malécot and Michael Brewer. The new owners plan to keep the country charm and signature bakery items while making it easier for people to buy their favorite items. They also plan to increase its wholesale operations and output, bring back some retired recipes and improve some classics, including the jalapeño cheddar bread. Despite these changes, Brewer urges longtime customers to request requests for new breads and pastries. The bakery has changed hands several times since its opening in 1963 and has been owned by several different owners since then.
