Yankees’ Max Fried dominates after getting through rocky first inning

Max Fried, who signed with the New York Yankees last season with the intention of replacing Gerrit Cole who was sidelined for all of last season due to Tommy John surgery, dominated in the team's season-opening 7-0 win over the Giants. Despite a rough first inning, Fried managed to avoid further trouble after giving up a single hit to Rafael Devers. He retired 10 of 11 after Devers' hit and pitched into the seventh despite being limited to around 90 pitches. Despite insisting he didn't have his best stuff, Aaron Boone and Ryan McMahon praised Fried's overall performance.
