Southwest Airlines ‘refining’ new seating process amid complaints over boarding, bin space

Southwest Airlines is enhancing its new seating policy following complaints from customers and crew members about boarding and overhead bin space. The airline's decision to switch from an open-seating policy to an assigned seating policy has been met with mixed response, with some claiming it was more difficult for early passengers to cram their luggage into the bins near the front of the aircraft. Southwest plans to continue refining the experience by improving how boarding groups are assigned to improve overhead bin availability near your seat and upgrading the majority of its aircrafts’ cabins with larger overhead bins. However, the airline acknowledged that there may be some necessary tweaks in the process.
