Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) has called some immigrants, including Haitians and Somalians, a "drain on our society" and echoed one of President Donald Trump's infamous claims about Haitian immigrants eating the pets of residents in Springfield, Ohio. Gill argued that not all immigrants are "equally compatible" with American culture and that it should be illegal for immigrants to "parasitiously make our country poorer". He also linked the IQ of immigrants to their need for welfare, suggesting that a population that hasn't interacted with the modern American world can have a hard time staying afloat. However, social media users called Gill's words "disgusting" and "Nazi propaganda".
