Neil Sedaka, the late singer-songwriter who passed away on 27 February at age 86, had three No. 1 hits, "Bad Blood," his last of which was performed by Elton John who helped him find his way back to mainstream in the U.S. in the mid-’70s. The song was instrumental in reviving Sedaka's stateside fortunes after meeting with John at a Bee Gees concert in the early '70s and helping him revive his dormant career in the UK. By 1975, Sedaka had already scored two Hot 100 No 1 hits and two Billboard 200 No 1 albums in his Greatest Hits. The backing vocals on “Bad Blood’ were a crucial ingredient in the song’s narrative selling point, selling it just a point for the song.
