The proposed Royals Stadium at Washington Square is receiving more support from Crossroads businesses than in its previous proposal in 2024. This change comes after the Crossroads Community Association (CCA) signed a community benefits agreement with the Royals, which they criticized for their lack of commitment compared to previous agreements. The site, which is owned by the city, is also owned by Wichita engineering firm Crane Co. The CCA president and restaurant owner Nicholas Grünauer supports the stadium, stating it would be "a really positive development." However, critics argue public funds should be used for services such as police, housing, transportation and education.
