Team USA will have reliever Mason Miller available for the World Baseball Classic championship game against Venezuela, potentially giving the team a boost in their chances. Miller, who has already pitched in four games in the tournament, has saved two times and has 10 strikeouts in four innings, largely due to his triple-digit fastball and has yet to allow a run. His performance in the game was particularly notable as he closed out the game's 2-1 semifinal over the Dominican Republic in controversial fashion. In the WBC, unlike spring training and upcoming major and minor league seasons, there is no usage of the Automated Ball-Strike Challenge System that would have potentially allowed Geraldo Perdomo to have turned the strikeout into a walk. Mets starter Nolan McLean is set to start the game for the Americans, while DeRosa is confident in McLean's ability to lead the team.
