A man with a neurological disorder, which has made maintaining friendships with his friends difficult due to his limited ability to walk or drive. He cannot explain his disability to friends who look at him like he is making up for them. He has had seven back surgeries and has arthritis in all his joints. He is tired of being at home and not receiving phone calls anymore and is unsure how to explain his illness to his friends. By not discussing these issues, he may have contributed to isolation and fear of being ostracised. His niece recently married her second husband without acknowledging the gift given in lieu of gifts. She invited all family members to a family gathering but has yet to invite her husband and me.
