Jefry Yan, a 29-year-old rookie reliever for the New York Mets, celebrated his MLB debut with a wild celebration after his first MLB strikeout during his big league debut at Progressive Field. Yan, who was promoted from Triple-A Syracuse this week, fanned Angels pinch-hitter Angel Martínez and later struck out Chase DeLauter and Jo Adell to complete a scoreless sixth inning. The celebration, which made Yan a viral sensation in the minor leagues, was part of a long journey for Yan, whose 3.24 ERA and 77 strikeouts were recorded between Double-A Binghamton and Syracuse this season.
