Microsoft nixes NDAs with local governments worldwide when deploying data centers

Microsoft has decided to abandon its practice of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with local governments when deploying new facilities in response to widespread backlash over data center proliferation. The company, which uses NDAs in early stages of development to protect commercial information, security needs, and navigate regulatory and permitting processes, will no longer be the "default mechanism" for new facilities. Microsoft's decision is aimed at strengthening public trust, enabling better dialogue, and ensuring growth is matched with meaningful engagement. The tech giant also plans to use NDAs for private transactions and to protect trade secrets and design information.
