Minnesota Republicans in Congress seek to stop federal funding for 2 state transit lines

Minnesota's Republican delegation in Congress is trying to prevent the state from receiving federal funds for two transportation projects, the Blue Line Light Rail Extension and the Northern Lights Express (NLX), which aim to connect Duluth to St. Paul and are considered unnecessary uses of taxpayer funds by the congressmen, Rep. Tom Emmer, the House majority whip and Minnesota’s 6th District representative, as well as Reps. Pete Stauber, Michelle Fischbach and Brad Finstad, have written to their colleagues arguing that the projects should not receive any more federal funds. The same group of lawmakers previously targeted the two projects and the Northstar Commuter Rail in a similar letter to Congress last year.
