Arin Miller-Tait has been promoted to the director of Cleveland's Community Development department, a position held by Mayor Justin Bibb. Miller-tait has led the department's community programing since May 2024 and led city programs that included fair housing, consumer affairs, and financial empowerment. The department has been criticized for its slow spending and difficulty managing grants and contracts. Examples of slow spending have included losing $3.3 million of a $4.9 million state grant meant for lead hazards removal, delaying $1 million set aside for help struggling renters for over a year. Chief of Integrated Development Tom McNair praised Miller's work on "wealth-building within communities" and emphasized the need for efficient use of funds.
