A report by online employment platform FlexJobs has found that 43% of workers are planning to change their careers this year, but few are actually doing so. Factors such as possible layoffs, the role of artificial intelligence and work-life balance are driving people to move to a new profession. However, changing careers can feel daunting, and many people are reluctant to leave their current employers. The study, conducted in early February, included over 4,000 U.S. respondents. Executive coach Megan Hellerer said the advent of AI has accelerated the collapse of linear career paths, leading people to want to move towards more creative and complex roles. Despite these challenges, many are starting a "curiosity campaign" to find their purpose and find out what problems they find themselves to address.
